Revisiting ‘Long Live The King’ - A Tribute to Edward Van Halen
"Long Live The King' was composed on the 2nd anniversary of the legendary Edward Van Halen's passing. This instrumental piece is a heartfelt tribute, crafted during the intense period of working on my first album.
"Long Live The King" is more than just a song; it's a bridge connecting my early days as a young guitar enthusiast to the artist I am today. It's a melodic homage to Edward's influence, capturing his spirit without merely replicating his iconic licks. This track also serves as a shoutout to the guitarists who've shaped my guitar journey, including Irwin Thomas, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Nuno Bettencourt, Michael Landau, Andy Timmons and Steve Lukather.
The Production
Conceived and drafted in just a few hours, the demo quickly evolved into a polished final version, thanks to the legendary Peter ‘Reggie’ Bowman and the masterful Pete Drummond. Their contributions were instrumental in bringing this song to life.
I'm immensely grateful to Reggie and Pete for lending their talents and helping me share this piece with you all. I hope it resonates with you as much as it does with me.
Here's to the lasting legacy of a true guitar king! 🎸👑
